Assassin is one of the fifteen roles in Flicker. It is one of the many roles that are affiliated with the Evil Team and can be played in Anonymous Mode and Regular/Standard Mode.

The Assassin can kill one player per game. The Assassin knows the identity of the Murderer, but the Murderer does not know the Assassin. The Assassin cannot be blocked, such as by the Witch or the Medic. The Assassin also cannot kill the Murderer.

Tips and Tricks

  • Since the Assassin can only kill one player per game, it is advised to kill an important player (such as the Medic or Psychic).
  • If you can't find an important role on the Good Team, try to get them to reveal their role; don't directly ask for their role, as this will draw suspicion.
  • It is suggested to send a Note to the Murderer about your identity, but it usually isn't very effective, as people may read your Note if it drops. To make it less obvious that you're Evil in case your Notes do drop, write something along the lines of: "We're on the same team.“ or "I know you're good."
  • Another way, the moment the game starts go up to the murderer and spam jump in front of them, or send them a note saying "Hello" and stand next to them. If the murderer is smart enough, they'd realize you're on their side.
  • Try standing up for the Murderer when they get accused or trying to be friendly with the Murderer will hopefully let the Murderer know you're Evil and have them avoid killing you. Make sure not to do it too intensively though, as others may suspect you.
  • Do not reveal the Murderer's identity in your journal or notes that you will pass, as this is also considered a game-breaking rule.
  • Be wise about your decisions: the Murderer may not suspect an Assassin in the game, so you must coordinate your kills so that they don't overlap with the Murderer's, otherwise it would waste your kill.
  • Another way to avoid wasting your kill is to not kill someone you know the Murderer will already kill. For example, if the Psychic revealed their role then do not kill them as the Murderer is probably planning to do it already. Only do so if the Medic is still in the game or the Murderer is inexperienced and won't kill them.
  • A strategy to use can be falsely accusing someone else as the Murderer and sacrificing yourself. This strategy can be effective sometimes but often isn't worth it as there are other members on the Evil Team. Only use this strategy if you are sure people would believe you.
  • If you want to help the Murderer win, after the first night, write in your journal "(Name of the Murderer) is Good." This will make people think you're the Psychic and have people avoid voting out the Murderer. Make sure to make up someone's status each night so they won't suspect you of lying. The real Psychic or Spy might call you out, however, or player's may believe you are the Dark Psychic, though you could try to turn things around and blame the Psychic or Spy as the dark one or Scout. Whether this will work or not depends on your luck, reputation, and influence (mostly former).
    • Example:
      • Write down you're the Psychic in your journal ("I'm the Psychic (Good)!").
      • Add the Murderer's name (let's say Bailey) in the journal (Bailey is Good.). Make sure to do it in the correct formatting and indentation as the Psychic. If you can't indent, you can lie and say something is wrong with your game that causes your text to get censored or tagged if you add it with indents. Additionally and alternatively, if you can't indent, you can say you got witched in your journal, so you only have Bailey's "reading" in your journal that she's Good and can't read anyone else due to being witched. If you can indent, add other fake readings of other players to further increase your chances of appearing as the Psychic.
      • You can either send a note to Bailey that you're on her side without being too explicit with it incase your note drops (something like "I think you're cool" or something similar), which she may or may not get the hint and think you're Evil and working with her, or you can get yourself voted out so your journal is revealed to everyone to show you're the "Psychic". To do this, instead of asking to be voted out, since people will usually think you're the Clown and not vote you or tell you to just leave the game, use reverse psychology by saying you don't want to be voted out, which will possibly get others to vote you out, especially if you act frantic and exaggerate.
        • For the former option, if Bailey gets the hint and works with you, you won't have to worry about her killing you and can work with her till the end, and hope neither of you gets voted. If she doesn't get the hint and kills you, your journal will still have your false reading in it that says she's Good, which may keep her alive for a good while, and possibly even help her win and overall get the Evil Team to win.
        • For the latter option, if you get voted out, like with the aforementioned scenario in the text above, your journal still has your false reading of her being Good, which can potentially help her, and by extension the Evil Team win, or at the very least help her get far if she still gets voted.
          • It's also possible the Savior can bring you back if you get voted, which will show that you tricked everyone, or at least the Savior, into thinking you're Good.
      • Of course, whether this strategy works or not also depends on your circumstances and luck as well, as people might think you're the Dark Psychic, if the Clown kills Bailey, if you or Bailey get voted out too early, if the real Psychic or Spy speaks up first, if the Scout is pretending to be the Spy (as there can't be a Psychic and a Spy, so you pretending to be the Psychic would go against that or vice versa), etc.
  • Another way to help the Murderer, even after voted, is to make sure you make it look like you're ratting out the Murderer in your journal. Since people can find it more trustworthy for an Assassin to say who the Murderer is, say that you were Assassin in your journal and rat out a random player to blame someone else. That way it can distract the other players and convince them to vote that player you ratted out, giving the Murderer more time to eliminate the rest of the Good Team.
  • The Clown often masquerades as the Assassin; use this to your advantage to act innocent.
  • One strategy is to admit (in your journal) that you're the assassin, and say that you'll reveal the murderer if you're brought back to life. It's not a perfect strategy- there might not be a Savior in the game, and the players might not trust you. (Note- they might be more willing if you've already made your kill.) But it's a good last resort if you don't think the savior would revive you otherwise.

Trivia

  • Just like the Clown, the Medic cannot stop the Assassin's attacks.
  • There used to be a typo in the role introduction where it said "Leave no survivers behind!" but was later corrected to "Leave no survivors behind!"
  • The Witch can witch the Assassin, despite the description of the ability being 'attacks are unstoppable'. This condition is only applicable to the Medic, as the Medic cannot stop the Assassin's kills.
  • Occasionally, inexperienced players believe that Murderer cannot kill the Assassin, but this is not the case.
  • There cannot be an Assassin and a Dark Psychic within the same round.
  • If the Assassin and the Murderer accidentally target the same person, it will say that the Assassin killed the target. Since the Assassin's kills overpower the Murderer's kills due to their behavior: "Attacks are unstoppable", the Assassin does more damage than the Murderer would.
    • This is also the same for Clown, although it will waste the Clown's only kill.
  • The Assassin is one of four roles who knows another player's role as soon as the game starts.
  • There is only a 3.33% chance of getting the Assassin role.
  • Both the Assassin and Dark Psychic have hot-pink text in their introductions, representing their connection and "Henchmen" roles.
