The character selection mechanism at the start of a round.
Characters are one of the many features in Flicker.
The character selection mechanism assigns you a completely random character and is ultimately the default option.
Anonymous Mode Characters
At the start of an Anonymous Mode round, you are allowed to choose three character types: Male, Female, and Non-Binary. The characters are chosen randomly depending on the character type you selected. Selecting "Random" will automatically pick one character with any gender in the active roster. (Anonymous Mode characters have a 1.1% chance to be chosen when selecting Random.)
There are currently thirty-one males, thirty-five females, and fifteen non-binary characters, making a total of eighty-one playable characters in this gamemode. Some Classic Mode characters appear here.
Classic Mode Characters
Old character selection from 2017. Appears when you joined the game.
Classic Mode characters (also known as "OGs" or "legacy characters") first appeared in 2017 before a majority of them were removed on March 1st, 2020. These characters were eventually added back into Flicker on July 19th, 2020.
There are currently twenty males, twenty-two females, and three non-binary characters, making a total of fourty-five characters in this gamemode.

This list shows characters that:
- could be added in the future,
- no longer serve a purpose, whether from limited-time events or not,
- or are NPCs in the lobby.
There are currently fifteen removed characters, three scrapped characters, and four NPCs.
Trivia
Former character type selection at the start of a game. (Pre-4.0.0 update)
- Most of the old Flicker characters' accessories were removed after the 2020 April Fools update. Their hair, clothes, and faces also changed. Chlorine and Vinny's appearance were preserved, however.
- The April 2nd, 2020 update brought the first characters with more than eight letters.
- Ash, Jo, Jordan, Kees, Liza, and Thomas were removed from the game on April 2nd, 2020.
- Kees is currently the only character that was permanently removed on April 2nd, 2020.
- On June 22nd, 2020, Jo and Jordan were readded into Regular Mode, followed by Thomas five days later, and Ash and Liza on July 19th, 2020 in Classic Mode.
- The following characters had name changes:
- The LGBTQ+ character selection was introduced on June 27th, 2020, and was later replaced with the Non-Binary character selection on April 25th, 2021.
- On July 19th, 2022, Cactus, Cash, and Nave were removed from Anonymous Mode due to the nature of the game.
- Abby, Josh, and Missy are the only scrapped characters in Flicker to the public’s knowledge so far.
- On April 1st, 2023, Aadiv, Jian, and Natalia were readded only for that day.
- In that same update, all characters, including customized characters, wore a banana suit.
