Dark Psychic is one of the fifteen roles in Flicker. It is one of the many roles that are affiliated with the Evil Team and can be played in Anonymous Mode and Regular/Standard Mode.
The Dark Psychic can choose one player every night and learn the team they are on. Unlike the Detective and just like the other Psychic, the information given to the Dark Psychic is 100% accurate, and does not require guesses/assumptions.
Tips and Tricks
- If you discover a member of the Evil Team, a tip could be to send them a note saying you're on their team, so they don't vote you off or kill you. This could make you suspicious.
- Similar to the Scout, if you discover a member of the Good Team, try documenting that this player is Evil rather than Good. This may fool other players if you die. Do the same for Evil Team members and try to say they are Good. Be aware that if there are too many people in your journal written as Evil, the players will suspect you of lying, as there can only be 3 or 4 Evil people in a game, depending on if there is an Ambusher or not. Take caution in writing as the game does, otherwise, players may determine that your reading was faked.
- Keep some readings accurate, as this may provide you leverage if they see that you know their role.
- When doing this, try to defend and act friendly with the Evil members, though not intensively, which will hopefully let them know you're on their side or lessen the chance of getting killed by the Murderer . You could also do this with the Clown.
- A strategy as the Dark Psychic is to masquerade as the Psychic. You could even 'help' the other team by giving them information, gaining their trust, and near the end-game accusing someone of being Evil so they believe you. Blaming a potential Spy as the Scout (or blaming a potential Psychic as the Dark Psychic) may potentially work, but it’s not definitive and you may get voted out if others don’t believe you, so it’s a 50/50 chance of either you getting voted or the Spy or Psychic being voted. Regarding the previous trick, you can increase your chances of masquerading as the Psychic. Regardless of whether there is a Psychic or Spy and a Scout or Witch, there will be some drama of who is Good or Evil (since there is the "Bug" and "Read" abilities for both teams).
- Though, as a potential downside and slight warning, if you pretend to be the Psychic, which can go against the Spy, that will potentially go against the Scout also (as there can’t be both "Bug" and "Read" ability roles for the Good Team, unlike the Evil Team with the Scout and Dark Psychic). It’s possible the Scout may pretend to be the Spy, which can go against you, causing extensive drama and confusion. These, of course, aren’t definitive, but simply possibilities to look out for.
Trivia
- If a well-experienced player gets it, it is the most common role for an inexperienced Savior to revive, since usually Dark Psychics masquerade as regular Psychics, in hopes of being brought back to life.
- The Dark Psychic is the evil counterpart of Psychic.
- There cannot be a Dark Psychic and an Assassin within the same round.
- The Dark Psychic was most likely added to make the Psychic less powerful, as many players complained about the Psychic being overpowered in Classic Mode.
- There is only a 3.33% chance of getting the Dark Psychic role.
- Both the Dark Psychic and Assassin have hot-pink text in their introductions, representing their connection and "Henchmen" roles.
