"The murderer now has one more advantage; they will not know who the “assassin” is (if there is one in the round), but the assassin knows who the murderer is and can communicate with them to try and eliminate the good team!" - 3.0.0 DevForum

The Murderer is the leader of the Evil Team. It is one of the fourteen roles that appear in Anonymous Mode and Regular Mode and one of the five roles that appear in Classic Mode.

In Classic Mode, the Murderer selects one person each night to murder. Their goal is simple: kill everyone. In Anonymous Mode and Regular Mode, the Murderer functions similarly in Classic Mode, except they must try to make sure they don't kill their teammates.

Tips and Tricks

General

  • Never reveal your role to anyone. This will result in getting caught.
  • Be a chameleon with the Good Team; "blend in" with the current environment, so you can earn players' trust by acting innocent (i.e. if the server is quiet, stay quiet, and if they like talking a lot, talk along with them).
  • Try not to keep quiet for a long time or act suspicious, like hiding in a room alone.
  • Try not to act too innocent. Pretending you don't know much about the game or acting scared can direct the suspicions onto you otherwise.
  • Try to kill those who aren't as suspicious and try to keep suspicious people alive.
    • Kill people who accuse someone else and let your accusers live. If someone blames someone else, then you can kill the person that blamed them, causing people to think it is them.
  • If you're diverting suspicion onto other players, make sure that who you're accusing is suspicious in some way (i.e. a player was silent for an extended period of time).

Regular/Anonymous Mode

  • Try not to kill Evil Team members, and only kill team members who you are sure they're good.
  • Remember you do not have to kill a player each night. You can trick players into thinking they voted out the Murderer when you are still in-game.
  • Masquerade as another Good Team role, such as the Savior or Medic: roles that don't require writing down information. Saying you're a Survivor only makes you more suspicious. Surviving players with the real roles might call you out, too.
  • Prioritize killing the Muffin Man over other roles if no one else has revealed their role that may be of importance. If the Muffin Man is kept alive, this could be dangerous as they will not be deemed suspicious. Even roles like the Psychic cannot explicitly prove themselves good, and their journals would be revealed either way.
  • Try to make it hard for people to figure out who you'll target, because if the Spy bugs who you target, they could expose you.
  • Try claiming that you've been witched. This will lower suspicion because Murderers can't get witched. However, if someone got witched that night, they might call you out.
  • Try pretending to be the Clown, as this will stop people from voting you out. However, there is a risk of the actual Clown being voted off and killing you.

Classic Mode

  • Always kill the Medic when they reveal their role, and then kill the players who have a different special role.

Trivia

  • There is only a 6.67% chance of getting the Murderer role without boosts from scrolls.
  • The Witch can't block the Murderer and the Assassin can't assassinate the Murderer.
  • The Murderer can only be killed by the Clown.
  • If the Medic saves the Murderer's target, there will be a text box stating that "You were attacked but healed!" for the target, and "Your target was healed!" for the Murderer.
