Notes are a gameplay feature of Flicker. Notes allow a player to send a discrete message to another player. There is a 1/5 (20%) chance that a note will drop, wherein all live players may read the note. A note may only be sent every ten seconds.

Uses

Flicker 4

The note button.

The note button is present in the lower left corner of the screen. Upon clicking it, the player will be prompted to highlight and select the recipient of the note.

With a recipient selected, the player will be given the note template. The template consists of the recipient's name, a text entry field, a close button, and a censorship checking button. The latter is used to determine if Roblox's chat filter will censor their entered text. Clicking this button will display the checked note, and the button will become the edit note button. Clicking the edit note button will revert the note to editing mode. When text has been entered into the note, a send button will appear.

After clicking the send button, the player will be informed whether their note has been successfully sent to the recipient, or if it was dropped. If a note is successfully sent, the recipient will see a received note titled "From [Name]" with the entered text, censored or not. When a note drops, all live players will see a dropped note. The title of a dropped note reads "Dropped by [Name]."

If the player attempts to send another note before the 10 second cooldown window has passed, a prompt will be displayed directing them to wait.

Tips and Tricks

  • If the player is revealing their role identity, try reducing the name to one letter to conceal it.
    • On the other hand, some players may form a strategy around the 1/5 (20%) chance of the note dropping and write notes revolving around the said possibility, as it may prove advantageous.
  • Certain players may use notes more frequently depending on their roles:
    • The assassin often uses notes to communicate with the murderer.
    • Twins sometimes use them to communicate with their other twin.
    • The psychic/dark psychic often use them to communicate with their teammates they have revealed.
      • When these notes drop, it gives a huge advantage to the other team.
  • If another player claims to be in certain roles (such as the psychic, spy, etc.), try finding a way to prove it; there is a chance that they are lying.

Trivia

  • Currently, all entered text in a note during edit mode will delete when the text entry box is reselected.
  • The maximum length of a note is 150 characters.
  • Received notes can be stacked on screen.
    • On PC devices, all received notes can be relocated around the screen by clicking and dragging the note.
    • Notes will overlap on the Z index in chronological order received.
  • There are various accompanying sound effects of paper rustling heard when utilizing notes.
  • Ghost players are unable to send or receive notes.
